Sentence
Definition:- A meaningful group of words is called Sentence.
Example :-
                   Cows eat grass.
                   They are reading.
                   I am teaching English.
                   Are you going to school ?
                   What are you doing ?
Kinds of Sentence :- There are five kinds of Sentence in English grammar.
1. Assertive Sentence
2. Interrogative Sentence
3. Imperative Sentence
4. Optative Sentence
5. Exclamatory Sentence
Definitions
1. Assertive Sentence - A sentence that makes a statement is called Assertive Sentence.
Example :-
                   Ram is a good boy.
                   Cows eat grass.
                   They are reading.
                   I am teaching English.
                   You can be a scholar.
2. Interrogative Sentence - A sentence that asks a question is called Interrogative Sentence.
Example :-
                    What is your name ?
                    How do you do ?
                    Are you going to school ?
                    What are you doing ?
                    Have you ever helped the needy ?
3. Imperative Sentence - A sentence that expresses an order, a request or advice is called Imperative Sentence.
Example :-
                    Read the Ramayana.
                    Bring a glass of water.
                    Don’t go there.
                    Please help me.
                    Take medicine in time.
4. Optative Sentence - A sentence that expresses some curse, blessing, prayer or wish is called Optative Sentence.
Example :-
                    May God help you !
                    May God save the king !
                    May the king live long !
                    May all of you get success !
                    May the soul get peace in Heaven !
5. Exclamatory Sentence - A sentence that expresses some sudden or strong feeling or emotion of the mind is called Exclamatory Sentence.
Example :-
                    What a beauty !
                    What a beautiful girl !
                    What a fall !
                    Well done ! Mohan.
                    Oh ! It is lost.
